On Friday 21st June our Magpie Adult choreographers performed at the Royal Opera House as part of their Live at Lunch series.
Dancers shared their interpretations of Romeo and Juliet, demonstrating the easy read resources that we have been developing in partnership with Royal Opera House Learning and Participation.
Working in partnership with the Royal Opera House, Magpie Dance participants have already experienced a workshop with Royal Ballet dancers describing that as “magical”.
Magpie Dancers Hannah, Owain and Jamie also performed an excerpt ‘Love and Loss’ from their stunning “Hidden Impact” performance.
Two of our Magpie ambassadors Hannah and Annie also attended the event and spoke to the audience about what the dancers have been working on and hosted a question and answer session.
Magpie dancer Hannah, said “I enjoyed the Romeo and Juliet work but the highlight for me was the duet ‘Love and Loss’. Performing my own choreography at a world famous venue like the Royal Opera House is mind-blowing!! Incredible! Inspiring! I loved it!”
Magpie dancer, Robert echoed Hannah’s overwhelming joy at performing in such a venue: “I think everybody’s really clever. I’m really proud of all my group. Performance was fantastic!”
A huge thank you to the Royal Opera House for an opportunity so good, actual lunch was forgotten!
You can see Magpie Dance in action at several upcoming performances.
