I really like being on the shadow board because I like working with others and telling Ideas to the whole group
Annie has been dancing with Magpie dance for nearly 10 years. She started with the Magpie youth group and has progressed through the Adult choreography to the dancer development course. During this time she also successfully completed the peer mentorship scheme and is now proud to be an ambassador.
Magpie dance has given Annie the confidence to speak up and present her ideas to others. She is passionate about helping others to express themselves through dance and appreciates this opportunity to represent them on the shadow board.
Annie is currently co-chair of Bromley together/Advocacy for all.
Daniel has been dancing with Magpie Dance for around 10 years, since he was just 8 years old. It's always been a highlight of his week and he has enjoyed participating not only in the weekly classes but also in the many additional opportunities provided. Daniel was delighted to become a member of the Shadow Board as he makes the transition into adulthood, and looks forward to representing the views of his fellow dancers, and to helping shape the future of Magpie Dance.
Fay has been passionate about dance since secondary school. Her favourite subject was performing arts, and she was involved in several musical, singing and dancing projects.
Her dedication to her extra-curricular activities earnt her a Jack Petchey’s Outstanding Achiever award in 2016.
Fay has also performed in a talent show contest organised by CASPA charity, that she also did volunteering for at the time.
Fay joined Magpie Dance four years ago and is very excited about her new role on the Shadow Board. Her other interests are BSL, swimming, fitness, and travel.
Holly joined Magpie Dance in 2011, and has enjoyed all the classes and performances she has taken part in over the years. As an Ambassador, she has helped at various workshops and fundraising events. Holly is also a member of Remix Theatre Arts, and studies Dance and Drama at Poverest Centre. In her spare time, Holly loves going to the theatre to see Dance shows and Musicals, and spending time with her family.
Holly wanted to join the shadow board so she could become more involved with the future of the company and be a voice for her fellow dancers.
Laura has been a member of Magpie Dance for many years, starting with the Youth Group and then joining the adult choreographers in 2011, and is now proud to be an Ambassador and Shadow Board Member.
Laura loves to dance and Magpie has developed not only her dancing skills but her self-confidence, self-discipline and self-reliance. It has also helped her interpersonal skills and widened her circle of friends.
Laura was very proud to attend workshops at the Royal Ballet and to perform there and at other prestigious venues. During the Covid restrictions she attended Zoom sessions and improved her computer skills and maintained her fitness.
She enjoys sport and represented Great Britain in swimming at the Special Olympics European Youth Games in Rome in 2006, winning a gold and silver medal, and at the SO World Games in Athens in 2011, winning a silver medal. She was a torch bearer for the 2004 Athens Olympic Games and also for the 2012 London Olympic Games. She then volunteered as a Games Maker at the Olympic Park. Laura was a member of the National Disability Rhythmic Gymnastics Display Team and performed at the 2003 Gymnaestrada in Portugal. She also attends Bromley Adult Education classes and is an avid Harry Potter fan.
Laura likes being on the Shadow Board because she enjoys sharing her views and hearing other people’s opinions and ideas and wants to do the best she can towards the future of Magpie Dance.
Hi, I’m Tilly and I have been going to Magpie for seven years. I enjoy going every week and to Easter and Summer school and taking part in shows. I have made friends at Magpie and also see other children from my school there.
I also go to gymnastics and I am studying Drama at school. I was Cinderella in the schools production. I like going to watch shows with my school and concerts with my friends.
I like being on the Shadow Board because I can have a say in what we do at Magpie and help with ideas to raise money.
